EV CHARGING

PERRY BARR, BIRMINGHAM

Incoming Supply: 5MW

Infrastructure Capacity: 7MW

Fact 3

Fact 4

Overview

We delivered the EV charging infrastructure to support the depot's transition to a mixed hydrogen and fully electric bus fleet. The project included the installation of Kempower distributed DC ultra-fast chargers to meet the depot's operational requirements

The Challenge

The project was delivered over a nine-month programme while accommodating the operational requirements of National Express. The works were carefully phased to align with the delivery of new electric buses and the progressive commissioning of the charging infrastructure.

Our Solution

We provided early input into the depot design to ensure the facilities could accommodate the future EV charging infrastructure. This enabled a smooth transition into the charging infrastructure contract and supported the installation of 117 EV bus chargers.

The Approach

Our approach involved close collaboration with all key stakeholders, including operators, funders, designers and engineers, to deliver the project within an operational depot without impacting bus routes or vehicle availability.
